Proof that summer is near. These chicks are in a group of eucalyptus trees concealing about 5 nests. It's amazing how effective they are at concealing those big blue bodies.

Eleven miles north of the Golden Gate bridge, hidden in a little valley lies the John Muir Woods National Monument. It tries to preserve the look and feel of a pristine redwood forrest. Aside from the mandatory paths designed to confine the unthinking or uncaring tourist, it looks like man has never been there. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I'll probably post a few more.

I finally have some fresh images to post. We spent the weekend in Vallejo aboard Wil and Ruth's boat in Vallejo. This Night Heron was patrolling the shoreline in front of the boat, washed in some nice light from a setting sun. He was quite successful and I saw him catch several of what we later identified as Goby's. Our hosts spent the weekend chauffeuring us all over the San Francisco area. I'll post more of them here.
